well I have made the transition from Christmas to Valentine's Day with little issue. I LOVE Valentine's Day. I love the colors associated with Valentine's day as well as the traditional gifts associated with the holiday, chocolate, roses, and BLING....lol....

TSC26: Tag Art - Marilyn

It's challenge time again over at The Stampsmith Challenge. We all took a little break after the holidays, but we're now being challenged by Lynne with some tag art. I've used a fun 'Marilyn Flying Dress' image and embellished it with some ribbon, lace and bling to finish it off. My project measures 3.5" x 5" and I actually decided that my tag is going to become a magnet. One of my colleagues loves Marilyn, so I thought she might like this for her fridge or maybe on the corner of a metal picture frame.

A Wistful Look She Gives You (TSC Make A Tag)

Bling In Brown

I love Bling and I use her every chance I get! I used Ancient Page Chocolate to give her more of a vintage look. Chalks were used to tint her face, arms and hair. Stickles in Platinum, Silver and Gold used on her bracelets, necklace and earrings. Small bling for her rings. This gal is oozing with self confidence and has a bit of an attitude!

Puppies & Smiles

I have an early Valentine's Day card to share with you today. My oldest daughter loves puppies so I thought I'd make her card using this sweet little pup from the Puppies stamp sheet by The Stampsmith. The sentiment, 'Your smile lights up my heart!' is from the Say It Like It Is stamp sheet, also by The Stampsmith.

Fun Belated Birthday Card

Hi Smithies!
Now that the Holidays are over, I am ready to create with lots of bright colors! I have a fun and bright Belated Birthday card to share with you today. I used a stamp from the "Those Were The Days" full sheet.

She Ponders The Passing Of Time

As 2011 is rapidly drawing to a close, this evening I am sharing my final DT project for 2011 for The Stampsmith.

Beautiful Ophelia (medium size version) is the focal of this card. She is one of The Stampsmith's most recognisable stamps and I don't know of anyone who doesn't like this image. Ophelia is a stamp I reach for time and time again and have to say that so far, I've not come across a stamping surface which is a challenge for it.

I've had another wonderful year as part of The Stampsmith DT where it is privilege to work with stamps that I truly adore and also to be part of such an amazingly talented DT.

Dear Santa...

Hello All,
Here is a quick post on a card that I started weeks ago but was only able to sit and finish yesterday. This is one of my favorite SS images. I LOVE this Santa image. He reminds me of spending Christmas's with my Grandmother. Her decorations were dated but I loved to say they were vintage. This Santa makes me miss her a bit but in a good way.
I hope everyone is taking a few minutes during this very busy time to reminisce. This is a happy/sad time for me as it is for many. I have lovely memories of my nan and this card was done in her memory (minus the silly sentiment I added....lol). A Very Stylish Christmas

Here we are, Christmas Eve and I am sharing the first of two posts today.

Isn't this Flapper( from Flapper # 1 ) so stylish.

She was stamped in the usual manner (Archival onto glossy cardstock) but colour then added with watercolour paints.

Stylish details of a fabulous fabric flower, large pearl embellishment and extravagant bow.

I can hardly believe it is the Eve of Christmas Eve and I am rapidly running out of time to share Christmas cards with you.
A wee post to share a card made with the ever beautiful two angels from Thank Heaven for Little Girls #2. A card such as this is a quick make as the stamping is minimal. Embellish with ribbon, a beaded dangle and pearl to elevate the card into something more special.

Christmas Tags That Sparkle!

Happy Holidays! It's crunch time! The December challenge is great fun! Get out your glitter, bling and sparkly stuff! I wanted to get these 2 tags posted before the big day.

This tag was for a friend and co-worker. If you look real close, you can see I added their names to the postcard Anita is holding! The tag was sprayed with Sheer Shimmer Mist, but the camera didn't pick it up.

I made this tag for another friend and co-worker. The name of this stamp is Maude. The background paper has glitter swirls and leaves on it. I used chalks to tint both girls. The City Sparkles At Christmas

The Stampsmith Challenge for December is well underway. We are asking for Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine on your artwork.
Once again I am using the Christmas Card Sheet #1 for my second (and third) DT sample. I have to say that if you are looking for stamps that are that little bit different then you cannot go wrong with this set.
I made this card for my sister and BIL. My sister isn't a vintage/nostalgic type so this Eiffel Tower stamp was perfect.For more details on this card you will find them at my Blog, http://lynnesbowsandbelles.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/the-city-sparkles-at-christmas/
Using the same stamp I created an outsize tag.
By threading ivory organza through the holes at the top of the tag this can be displayed hanging from a Christmas tree, a mantle or even from a gift bag.

Hi All, Sorry it has been so long since I have posted but saying life has been busy in an understatement! With Christmas quickly approaching I have been trying to get ready for that, prepare for a few craft fairs that I participated in locally, and my most recent undertaking, helping my friend, Kim Blanchette out with the relocation/opening of her paper crafting studio, The Cutting Garden. I have also, in between this been trying to keep myself healthy and my MS in check, which is no small feat!!! Country Landscape Winter Scene with Glitter

Today I would like to share a glittery winter card with you. I used one of the images from the Country Landscape Full Sheet. The Amish scene is stamped with black dye ink on glossy white CS.

Meet Me For Christmas In Paris

For the month of December, at The Stampsmith Challenge Blog we are asking you to Shimmer, Sparkle and Shine!

I would like to share my first project for the challenge, a card with the Eiffel Tower image from Christmas Card Sheet #1 as the focal.

This card certainly shimmers as I used winter white glitter card then layered the image which is edged with vintage glass glitter. To create more shimmer I stamped the image onto pearlescent cardstock.

We would love to see your Shimmer, Sparkle and Shine artwork. Please remember to include at least one of The Stampsmith stamps on your artwork. It is worthwhile entering as there is a random prize every month.

Shimmer, Sparkle & Shine Christmas Wall Art

It's challenge time again over at The Stampsmith Challenge blog and for my DT sample, I decided to go with a Christmas frame to showcase the Shimmer, Sparkle & Shine theme. Both the photostamps I've used are from the Christmas Cards Sheet 1 stamp plate. The sentiment border is made up of several stamps from the Christmas Greetings Sheet both by The Stampsmith. My frame measures 10" x 17" and the photo openings measure 3.5" x 5.5".

Here's a closeup of the left side panel of Santa with his sack of toys postcard.

I created this decorative piece using patterned paper pieces and used a punch to do the snowflake centrepiece.

Always Here For You

Here's a little step back in time for you with these two sweet little kids. The photostamp is from the Darling Boys plate and the sentiment, 'I will always be here for you' is from the Say It Like It Is stamp plate and are both by The Stampsmith.

I'm sorry, I know this is a horrible picture of this card being all blurry...but, I had to use my scanner since my camera is dead and I can't for the life of find my charging cable. I'll have to go on an all out hunt for it tomorrow! lol :)

CAS Christmas card with Grace

What are Little Boys are Made of?

I have had some computer issues and until this morning, I was unable to access my blog or upload any pictures. I am hoping it is fixed, fingers crossed!

Juliet in Watercolor

I have the lovely Juliet in Watercolor for you today. I colored by placing ink from markers on an acrylic block and then picking up the ink with a wet paint brush. I love the soft color that results. I also added some Victorian Velvet Distress ink.

She's Got The Look

Isn't she something? This sassy lady is called The Look and she is available at The Stampsmith Store in unmounted rubber or wood mounted. I used rose chalk on her cheeks, and added some red glitter to her lips. There is some black tulle under the sentiment. Love that stuff! The gorgeous black velvet ribbon is from my stash of unknown origin! Silver bling for her necklace. The sentiment is from Michael's $1.50 bin.

It's a Tea Party

I have a French inspired card to share with you today using the Paris plate from The Stampsmith. In case you don't read French, the sign reads, "French Countryside Chocolates and Teas.'

I made this card for my youngest daughter who loves everything French. This image reminds me of her hosting little tea parties for me. We used to have so many, perhaps some day we'll actually venture over to Paris for some real tea and to do some sightseeing of all the wonderful pictures throughout France that she has in her room. Some day...

She Was All Lady

As we are fast approaching the half way mark for the November Challenge theme (link on sidebar) of Ribbons and Lace I thought I would share with you another project, this time a card. This stunning lady is from Portrait of a Lady plate. This is a generous size stamp (as are the majority of The Stampsmith stamps) and as I wanted to add lots to this card I choose a larger card base, allowing me plenty of space for the addition of lace, trims and a fabric flower with pearls hanging beneath it.

A stamp I always have to hand is the linked postal cancellations from the Paris plate, here used to create an embellishment with a pearl pin and shabby seam binding tied into a bow.

Regal Kitty Cards

I have two "just for fun" cards for you today. I have used the image called Princess. I made this card for my Mom. And, then I made a second card because this image is just too fun. LOL Here is the image.

The image was stamped on glossy white CS with black dye ink. This is the one I made for my Mom.

And this is card #2. I used different paper and ribbon.

A Faithful Friend

At The Stampsmith Challenge site the fun is underway. To celebrate the 1st anniversary of the challenge site there is a Blog Hop with prizes to be won. As well as the Blog Hop there is a new challenge theme. I am honoured to be the host, selecting the theme of Ribbons and Lace. The item I created is an altered notebook with the focal stamp fromIt's A Dog's Life This altered notebook has been made with a friend in mind so I selected the stamp Friendship from Say It With Flair to create an embellishment.

More details can be found at my Blog, Adorn. Although I opted for a feminine style this theme works well with a masculine theme.

Ribbons and Lace Challenge

It's time for a little voyage to Paris...well, in my dreams anyway! lol :) I created this card for the current challenge over at The Stampsmith Challenge. This month, the theme is "Ribbons and Lace" and we're celebrating The Stampsmith Challenge's one year anniversary with a fun blog hop. For my project, I used the Eiffel Detail stamp, along with the postmark, map and Bon Voyage sentiment stamps from the Paris sheet, all by The Stampsmith.

This is my full, framed project. My youngest daughter is absolutely crazy over anything and everything to do with Paris, especially the Eiffel Tower, so this project is for her.

Hello Kitty! Ribbons & Lace November Challenge

Love cats! When I saw this stamp, I had to have it! This is my card for the Ribbons & Lace November Challenge that Lynne is hosting. The image was stamped on Copic paper and stamped with Ancient Page Coal Black ink. I then cut her out and inked edges with a little Distress Ink Vintage Photo.

I love using chalks on these photo stamps. For her face and arms I used light brown and then some light peach. Added a smidgen of pink on her cheeks, blue on her dress and some light brown in her hair.

This beautiful rubber stamp is part of a set of 9 stamps called "Isn't' She Lovely?". Have a look at the other stamps in this set at The Stampsmith Online Store.

Audrey's ready to party

The beautiful focal image on this card is from the It's A Dog's Life plate. You do not have to be a dog lover to enjoy the beauty of this plate but if you happen to be like me someone who has always loved dogs then you will adore this sheet of images.

Hi All,
If there is any dog lovers in your life, then this is a great plate of stamps to use on creations for them. In this post I used a stamp for the plate called, Puppy Dog Art Rubber Stamps. It is a wonderful plate of stamps of different puppy dogs. I showed my husband this card that I made and stated in a very serious voice that I am NOT an dog lover. Music To Her Ears

If you know of anyone who studies music, plays an instrument or purely has a passion for music then this particular stamp from Flappers #3 is such a perfect stamp to create a card.

It is an elegant and what I would class as a mature stamp so I married it up with this dramatic paper from Paris Nights paper pad adding touches of sheet music.

Yes, you're reading this card correctly...I'm advertising for the U.S. Army...and yes, I'm a Canadian Navy wife! Kinda funny, eh? Anyway, I had fun gathering stuff for this card to create a DT sample for The Stampsmith. This Uncle Sam photostamp is part of the U.S.A. Patriotic stamp sheet. Definitely some fun stamps! :)

I'm in the Halloween spirit! How about you? This little guy is already for his treats, and I'm sure he can do a lot of tricks!
This pup and the word, "WOOF!" is from the Puppies sheet at the newly designed, user friendly, Stampsmith Store. They also carry a Halloween sheet of images and words, but you can turn any stamp into anything you want or need!

Timeless Elegance

This stunning image is from Flappers #1. She exudes timeless elegance.

I painted the image with watercolours so that her dress and flowers would co-ordinate with the colours of the hanging.

To add vintage charm I used vintage lace and a vintage button was stitched to the large fabric bloom. For sparkle a faux diamante buckle was threaded through some picot edged ribbon.

A gentle reminder that the Hallowe'en challenge is underway over at TSC Blog ( link on the sidebar). The DT always enjoy viewing the artwork that is entered so why not show us your interpretation of Hallowe'en. All rules are on the challenge blog but I will add this note, you must include at least one Stampsmith stamp in your artwork. It is worthwhile entering as there is a random prize draw which is excellent.

Puppy taking time to smell the flowers

I have an adorable little puppy to share with you today from the Puppies stamp sheet from The Stampsmith. I can see giving this card with the inside saying, "How can you be mad at this cute face?" lol :) Or, you could use the saying, "Take time to smell the flowers" or simply "Thinking of You." The possibilities are endless or based on your interpretation. That's what I love about seeing everyone's artwork. There are so many takes on one image, from whimsical to elegant depending on your embellishments and choice of colours.

Halloween Dress-Up Fun

OK, I have a funny take on my Halloween card for our latest challenge over on The Stampsmith Challenge. I'm not big into making scary Halloween cards, but you can always use other stamps for the theme and turn them in a Halloween card, by pretending they're in costume and by adding a funny saying.

In my card, I chose to work with a photstamp of Marilyn, dressed up as a 'Naughty Baker'. Isn't this fun? :) Now, why don't you come and play along with us? Show us your creations, using at least one image from The Stampsmith and upload it to the challenge linky.

*Just an update, we've made a change to The Stampsmith Challenge and it'll be now be only a monthly challenge announced on the first of each month. This way it gives you the entire month to create something and get a pic of it to us. It needs to include at least one stamp from The Stampsmith. There will be one lucky winner drawn at the end of every month for a full sheet of Stampsmith rubber - a $21 value!

If you don't have any Stampsmith stamps of your own, but would like to play along, you can always contact Estelle to order a single or two. Her Menacing Way (TSC#23)

There is a new challenge theme over at TSC with our lovely host Karen selecting Hallowe'en as the theme. Hallowe'en is slightly outwith my comfort zone but that is the fun with challenges. For my DT sample I used the witch from the Wizard of Oz plate.

She was stamped with Archival Coffee, Sepia and a touch of plate to add depth to her cloak. More details available on my Blog, Adorn.

We would love to see your interpretation of Hallowe'en. All details for participating are on the challenge site (see sidebar for link). There are a couple of changes to the rules:-

. you now have the entire month to join The Stampsmith Challenge with a new challenge theme being set on the 1st of each month.

. your artwork must feature at least one Stampsmith stamp.

So whether you like the dark side of Hallowe'en or Too Cute to Spook we want to see your Spooktacular artwork.

Autumn Inspiration

It's quickly approaching my favorite time of the year and with cooler weather on it's way, Lynn has challenged us with an 'Autumn' creation for the current Stampsmith Challenge. I used the sunflower from the Botanica stamp sheet from The Stampsmith as shown below. I stamped the sunflower and coloured it in with my Copics, then I carefully cut out all the petals with a good set of scissors. I call it my scissor-therapy time. Funny how I find it so relaxing to use cut out intricate designs. :)

I just received this both stamps used on this card, and couldn't wait to get the stamps inky. Shirley just brings back memories from when I was a kid, and watching tv with my Grandparents.

She's A Star

Audrey always exudes timeless elegance. Using the single unmounted image of Audrey I worked with the classic colour scheme of black and white with a hit of pink. Stamping onto pearlescent paper adds a touch of glamour. Pearls were added to create a necklace and of course jet for an ear-ring!

Two cinema tickets were threaded through a florist's pin.

To make this into a hanging a string of faux pearls was attached with black ribbon.

I would like to share a second project, this time a card.

This time Audrey is stamped directly onto pattern paper. I selected this paper as it has subtle print of cameras. On the hanging I used Style from Say It With Flair plate and again I reached for this plate to select Bring Out The Star In You. Can you see that I used this stamp to also create a pattern around the edge of the card, this is when stamps come into their own, selecting a part of an image to form a pattern. A camera embellishment and polka dot ribbon tie in with the theme.

Once again I dressed Audrey up, this time she has left her pearls at home in favour for gemstones!

Lulu Loves Chocolate...

I have a fun pop art style card to share with you today using the Lulu stamp from The Stampsmith. Lulu is sold as a single stamp, which includes the thought bubbles and is quite large at about 4" x 5.5".

I cut her out and added the sentiment, 'Who needs a man When you can have chocolate' from the Say It Like It Is stamp sheet.

My project is 8" x 8". I made it a bit larger than I normally do, just because the main focal image was quite large and I wanted room to embellish with lots of bling. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this...my hubby might get offended if I put it up in my house, although I think the sentiment is super funny! :) I do love chocolate, but not sure if I like it more than him. On a funny note, my kids have always told us they like us more than a chocolate donut! That's quite a compliment, eh? lol :)

This week I have selected a stamp from the Thank Heaven For Little Girls #2. This is a generous sized stamp, as are the majority of The Stampsmith stamps but I wanted to add some stamped elements so I used stamps from Paris and Say It With Flair plates. The Kiss

I made this card for my hubby. We'll be celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary soon, and I figured this image would be perfect. The image I used is called "The Kiss' and it's sold as a single by The Stampsmith. The sentiment, I Love You,' is also from The Stampsmith from the 'Say it Like it is' stamp plate.

She Dreamt With Her Eyes Open

I have so many favourites when it comes to The Stampsmith stamps with Maude always included in my Top 10.

This hanging was created as a DT sample for a recent challenge theme of Faux Technique over at The Stampsmith Challenge site. Each month we have two new themes, the latest theme is Autumn which I have the honour of hosting. If you have not joined in the fun before let me tell you that everyone is welcome.

On the 1st of each month the challenge is open to any stamp company so don't let it be an excuse that you cannot participate because you don't own any of The Stampsmith stamps. For the challenge on the 15th of each month we stipulate that at least one of The Stampsmith stamps must appear on your artwork. For each challenge theme there is a random winner selected to win $10 voucher for The Stampsmith store.

The Playful Nature of Her Gaze

For this week's DT artwork I am using a stamp from Flappers #3. As I mentioned on my Blog, Adorn, I can never stay away from The Stampsmith's Flappers for too long.They are such gorgeous stamps. Reaching for another favourite set, Say It With Flair plate I selected "Beauty" which I stamped repeatedly onto a piece of pattern paper.

By chance I had dyed some fabric flowers for a project some months ago, they were the perfect match for the papers and lace I used. Although she isn't wearing one, I wanted a cluster of flowers to resemble flowers such as those seen on a wrist corsage.

A little reminder that TSC Faux Technique is underway. You have until 14th of September to create art for this challenge, with a new challenge theme, Top 3 entries and the random winner's name for the $10 voucher for The Stampsmith store all being announced on 15th of September.

Reach for the Stars

I have some Lana Turner eye candy to share with you tonight. Lana was a definite star and I love this image of her. She looks as though she looking to the stars, so I opted to pair this image with the sentiment, 'Reach for the Stars.' I made this card for a friend who just graduated and she's starting her life in the real world. So, Sarah, reach for the stars, the sky's the limit.

A little tip: I really love this lace, but it was a cream colour, so I simply used a sponge and applied black ink to make it the colour I wanted. Ta-da, black lace to match my project!

A Loving Couple with The Stampsmith

I have a card today the uses one of the images from "Shall We Dance" full sheet. I stamped on glossy white CS with black dye ink.

The hearts are made by stamping on of the images from the "Love Notes" Full sheet. I stamped with Vintage Sepia and cut out. More info on my blog too. Have a great day!

Kitty Was Known To Say "It's A Dog's Life"

This week I have two cards I'd like to share with you.
The first card has The Kitty, a single unmounted stamp, as the focal of the card.A vintage theme and colours run through both the cards.

I also used words from the Say It With Flair plate, an indispensable plate as there are just so many words and sentiments to select. I stamped Friendship to form a hanging tag.
The second card has a stamp from the A4 plate It's A Dog's Life. This is a gorgeous plate of stamps not only with Flappers and their dogs but also the most adorable stamp of a puppy with kittens.

Mini 'Friends' Album

I got together with my local crafty friends this weekend and we each made one of these mini albums. I decided to make mine into a 'Friends' album and for the tags to hold pictures of the friends who are dear to me. The pages are 6" x 6." I used patterned paper sandwiched over box board. The pages were bound with ribbon after punching the holes using a Cinch machine.

For the 'Friends' image on the front page, I used a photostamp by The Stampsmith, called Banjo Singers. It can be purchased as a single. Don't they look like they're having fun?

This shows you all the pages of the album; back and front page on the top row, 2nd and 3rd pages on the next row, 4th and 5th pages on the following row and 6th and 7th pages on the last row.
Here's a close up of the 2nd page, I'll be adding add a photo to the frame below and some journalling around the frame.

The Lovely Ophelia

I'd like to share the lovely Ophelia, with you today. She can be purchased as a single in both a tiny and large size from The Stampsmith. I used the tiny size in my project today. She also comes in an in-between size as part of the Shakespeare Heroines - Ophelia and Friends plate. I've given the dimensions below of the three different sizes:

1.25" wide x 1.75" high

2.25" wide x 3.5" high

3.75" wide x 4/5" high

Lovely Lady in Blues

I have another of the Lovely Ladies from the Flappers #3 sheet for you today. I thought this image seemed like a high school graduation photo. So, I used some papers that have a school feel: the blue graph paper. The image is stamped with black dye ink on glossy white CS.

The Delicate Nature of Being a Woman

Ophelia, instantly recognisable as one of The Stampsmith stamps and a favourite amongst many stampers. A classic stamp that is so versatile.

For this week's DT artwork I have once again used Stampbord as my base. So often with photo real stamps we always turn to glossy cardstock to stamp onto but with projects such as this I want to show that it is always worthwhile experimenting and having some fun stamping onto different surfaces.

I used a 1" square piece of Stampbord to create a Stampbord and lace brooch. If you own the smallest sized Ophelia available then of course more of the image will fit onto the Stampbord square.

By the Sea Shore: Memories

Today, I have a Lovely Bathing Beauty for you. This is one of the lovely ladies from the Flappers #3 full sheet. I wanted to create a card that looked more like a scrapbook page. My idea was a memory of a pleasant day at the beach. I used CS in soft blues and browns.

He Wished To Be Admired And Loved

For my post last week "Amidst The Flowers of Summer" I used an old favourite, Serena to create a hanging from Stampbord and lace. This week I decided to work with a stamp that until now I haven't used on a DT piece of art to create another hanging. The couple stamp is from Isn't She Lovely plate. My favourite choice for ink is Sepia but to enhance the look of the rosy glow of love I gently sponged Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet onto the glossy card after stamping the couple.

Selecting the word L'amour from the Paris plate I stamped this all over the base. Although the word isn't legible it does create a lovely pattern on the base, pattern paper could easily be substituted.

Little hangings such as this always make a lovely alternative to a greetings card.

Amidst The Flower of Summer

Serena is such a favourite image and an image that most people associate with The Stampsmith, alongside Ophelia. I've used this stamp many times and I never get bored using it. This week, when planning my DT work I was looking for a surface other than glossy cardstock to stamp onto. Amongst my supplies I unearthed some Stampbord.
The image is clearly defined, even her wisps of hair and the smallest of flowers. A Stampbord scratch tool was also used and details are on the post at my Blog Adorn. Wanting to soften the appearance of the sharp edges of the Stampbord I added lace and a hanging was created with copper wire.

The next time you use your stamps from The Stampsmith, why not reach for an alternative surface to glossy cardstock, some interesting results may be achieved.

Karen here today with a bit of Bling. This card is made using the Stampsmith individual stamp "Bling" that is available in the Stampsmith Shop. I Stamped the image with black dye ink on glossy white CS.

Homage to Lucy

I'd like to pay homage to Lucy since next week she would have celebrated her 100th birthday. She was certainly one of a kind. Such a funny lady and is sadly missed by so many.

The photostamp of Lucy that I used, is from the Fame #1 stamp sheet by The Stampsmith. The sentiment, "Portrait of a Lady" is from the Say it With Flair Sayings stamp sheet, also by The Stampsmith.
