TSC43: Altered Cigar Box

For the challenge this month over at The Stampsmith Challenge site, our new Guest Designer, Paula Tidman has challenged us to create some art using the theme 'Alter it - Boxes, Bags or Books.'  My features an image of the lovely, Lucy.   I just love this image...she looks stunning and not at all silly like your normally remember her!

Here's a bit of an angle to better show you the gorgeous lacey pattered paper and hardware on the box.

Yes, I know this next image is upside down...I just wanted to show you a view of the back of the cigar box, so you can see the pretty sheer, gathered ribbon that's around the three sides over top of the lacey patterned paper.

I hope you decide to play along in the fun!  You still have a few more days to play and I can't wait to see all the different altered art!  Just remember to use at least one stamped image by The Stampsmith in order to be eligible for the draw.  :)

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Her Delicate Heart

Hello Everyone
I am sorry I have been absent for a wee while. Before my enforced absence I created this altered canvas where I used the beautiful Ophelia as my focal.
Ophelia comes in various forms, this one is the medium size version.
I stamped Ophelia onto painted cardstock before layering with an epoxy frame.
Soon, over at my personal Blog,  Adorn  I will be sharing more details about this canvas.
Are you aware that the February challenge is underway at TSC? As always there is a prize of $21 to spend at The Stampsmith on-line store on stamps of your choice so it is well worth entering.

Hello Everyone
My DT sample for the November challenge is this hanging gift pouch.
I used the Christmas Greetings Stamp Plate which is packed full of words and sentiments.  I will be sharing a few projects using this stamp plate between now and the 25th of December.
The November challenge White on White is well underway but if you would like to come along and join us you still have plenty of time. As always, click on the sidebar to take you to TSC Blog to read how to enter your artwork and the prize available.

The Author of Her Life

Hello Everyone
Today I would like to share a DT sample where I made use of a beautiful stamp from the Belinda and Friends plate.
I stamped the image directly onto some script paper which gives a slightly more muted appearance to the image compared to if it were stamped onto glossy cardstock.

An old book cover was used as the base of this hanging layering up vintage book text, dyed lace and trims and anything else that was to hand.
We are now past the half-way mark for the October Stampsmith Challenge With Gratitude. We welcome your entries to this challenge whether you make a card, tag or altered art, anything goes but please remember to include at least one Stampsmith stamp on your entry.

Women Of Strength

Hello Everyone
I would like to share this canvas I altered using three stamps from Cleopatra and Friends. The three stamps selected are Imogen, Cordelia and Portia. Portia in particular has been cropping up on a few pieces of art and I will have something else very soon to share where Portia takes the spotlight on her own.
I built up lots of layers on the canvas to achieve colour and texture. I wanted the appearance of broken plaster/stucco.
Cordelia is shown below.
Another stamp set utilised is Cartolina Postale. This is a really useful set to have, a stamp set that can be overlooked yet is excellent for backgrounds, etc.
There are more photographs displayed on my personal blog, Adorn.

Where She Keeps Her Secrets

Hello Everyone
One of my favourite sets at the moment is Cleopatra & Friends . The images are stunning to work with.
This is my second piece of artwork using Portia.
I was in need of making a gift for an art friend so I altered a box with Portia taking centre stage on the lid.
To decorate the sides I used one of the stamps from Carte Postale.
Further details on my Blog, Adorn.

Don't Box Her In

Hello Everyone
Ophelia is possibly the most recognisable of all The Stampsmith stamps, coming in different forms, click the link to see just how many variations there are on this stunning stamp. I selected the large, facing right version to adorn a plain box.
In a former life this box was a  presentation style box for a necklace/pendant, it was ripe for altering.
As well as Ophelia I also used a stamp from the Cartolina Postale set. This is a wonderful set of stamps not only to use to create faux vintage style postcards but to add background details, etc on artwork. Here I used one of the stamps to stamp directly onto the edges of the box and then layering with beautiful lace.
There are  details on how I decorated the box at my blog, Adorn.
Did you know that the new Stampsmith Challenge is underway? We are asking that for the month of June you create Humorous Birthday artwork to share with us. As always at the end of the month one winner will be randomly selected with the prize of $21 to spend at The Stampsmith store on stamps of your own choice.
Happy Stamping.
