On Saturday, I attended the Greater NY Art Stamp and Scrapbooking Show hosted by The Stampsmith and The Stamping Ground, here on Long Island. The vendors were great, as always, demonstrating lots of new techniques, and it was packed. I added many new stamps and supplies to my ever growing collection. There were loads of classes available, and I got to chat with Estelle at the Stampsmith booth. I highly recommend going next year if you live reasonably close, or stay right at the hotel and make a weekend of it. It's well worth the effort!

FALLING LEAVES AND MANY THANKS

Here's a new card I've created using The Stampsmith's Paris plate. It appears to be a street in the city along a park where the autumn leaves have already fallen. It's stamped in brown ink and attached to a teal card stamped with copper embossed skeletal leaves. The sentiment reads "many thanks" and would make a great card for Thanksgiving.

HALLOWEEN LOVE?

I was looking for a Halloween card idea, when I was inspired by this Stampsmith image from the Romance/My Honey plate. Obviously, this young couple is in love, but what if there was another story behind the picture!

Viva la Paris!

This weekend, I designed a trio of cards using the "Paris" plate, selecting the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame. I stamped each image in a different color ink, then color coordinated the cards using those three colors. Here's what turned out!

The ink colors used are Adirondack eggplant and cranberry, and StazOn mustard.

"Coffee Gal" says Happy Birthday!

When I saw The Stampmith's "Coffee Gal", with her 1950's wide eyed perkiness (must be all that java), I just loved her! She's the epitome of the typical housewife of that era.

I stamped her on glossy paper with Adirondack Cranberry dye ink. The background paper, Wassail Falling Snow (was-1454) by Basic Grey, looks like a wallpaper that our gal might have hanging in her kitchen.

Hi! My name is Karen Fisher, and I've been invited to join the Stampsmith blog as a guest artist this month! I thank Kim for all of her kind words regarding my work. She posted my Audrey Hepburn card back in May. I thank Estelle for her fabulous stamps. She lives only 15 minutes from me, and I've been attending her local stamp show for years.

As an interior designer turned stay-at-home mom, I needed another outlet for my creativity. A friend introduced me to rubber stamping, and the rest is history. I find that my art reflects my training as a designer, in that I color coordinate my papers, ink and images as I would decorate a room with wallpaper, fabric and paint. I love collecting vintage ephemera and incorporating it into my work.

I am looking forward to participating with all of you talented artists. I hope I can keep up!

Pirate Prince

The Gingersnap Creations challenge today was for chestnut movie stars. Johnny Depp is today's pirate prince, but Errol Flynn was the original swashbuckler. This stamp is from Estelle's At the Movies stamp sheet. What a smile he had, to capture the hearts of the ladies in the movie audiences!

Stampsmith month on Gingersnap Creations

This month The Stampsmith are teaming up with Gingersnap Creations to bring you a series of challenges where you can win Stampsmith products.
I have the enormous honour of being on both The Stampsmith and Gingersnap Design teams, so here is the piece that I made for the first of these challenges with the theme "movie stars" using an image from the Stampsmith's "kiss me you fool" plate.

Always On My Mind

Here's a card created for a "Favorite Board Game" challenge over at the Cutting Garden Blog who will soon be carrying the beautiful Stampsmith stamps - yay! This is based on my favorite board game - Cranium. In one category in this game, you get to act like a famous person and the other players have to guess who you are! Can you guess who this is... LOL!!!

I hope you're enjoying a beautiful summer! The summer weather has finally arrived in Nova Scotia and we're having a little heat wave with 100% humidity - gasp! It's making me want to stay inside out of the heat so I've been up in the craft room a bit more lately. Here's one of my latest creations.

Don't you just love Stampsmith's Serena stamp? I've used Stampsmith's Rose Background stamp using Versafine Vintage Sepia on cream cardstock. You can find the individual stamps here:

The flower filigree stamp is from Magenta and the Woven Background stamp is from Rubber Soul. I added Dew Drop embellishments and cream and dusty pink flowers from Kaisercraft using Glossy Acents.

Then I decided to make a bookmark to help me remember my reading spot in my favorite novel. I used images from the following Stampsmith plates to create this bookmark:
