the final week of stampsmith at gingersnap

There is a litte extra challenge at Gingersnap this week, to combine any of the previous challenges. This is very generously being sponsored by the stampsmith again, and there is a beautiful stamp to be won.
there is more information about my tag on my blog

"Coffee Gal" says Happy Birthday!

When I saw The Stampmith's "Coffee Gal", with her 1950's wide eyed perkiness (must be all that java), I just loved her! She's the epitome of the typical housewife of that era.

I stamped her on glossy paper with Adirondack Cranberry dye ink. The background paper, Wassail Falling Snow (was-1454) by Basic Grey, looks like a wallpaper that our gal might have hanging in her kitchen.

All of my submissions for The Stampsmith can also be seen on my blog:

I also sell my cards on Etsy:

Wedding Themed Cards

This image is from the "Wedding Bells" plate. These two look like silent movie stars!

This card features the "Just Married" single stamp. I love this couple, they're too cute!

Hi! My name is Karen Fisher, and I've been invited to join the Stampsmith blog as a guest artist this month! I thank Kim for all of her kind words regarding my work. She posted my Audrey Hepburn card back in May. I thank Estelle for her fabulous stamps. She lives only 15 minutes from me, and I've been attending her local stamp show for years.

As an interior designer turned stay-at-home mom, I needed another outlet for my creativity. A friend introduced me to rubber stamping, and the rest is history. I find that my art reflects my training as a designer, in that I color coordinate my papers, ink and images as I would decorate a room with wallpaper, fabric and paint. I love collecting vintage ephemera and incorporating it into my work.

I am looking forward to participating with all of you talented artists. I hope I can keep up!

Star card

The Gingersnap challenge this week was stars and Betty Davis was certainly one of the stars of the silver screen. She also had that kind of tough cookie attitude that made her a standout.

Card details can be found on my blog.

Pirate Prince

The Gingersnap Creations challenge today was for chestnut movie stars. Johnny Depp is today's pirate prince, but Errol Flynn was the original swashbuckler. This stamp is from Estelle's At the Movies stamp sheet. What a smile he had, to capture the hearts of the ladies in the movie audiences!

Details of the card construction can be found at my blog.

Reasons to stamp.....

The Gingersnap Creations blog does a monthly post which gives you a reason to stamp every day of the following month.

Coming up on september 28th is "ask a stupid question day" So I made this card with one of my favourite stupid questions

"What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about?"

Think about it, really what if it is?

Always On My Mind

Here's a card created for a "Favorite Board Game" challenge over at the Cutting Garden Blog who will soon be carrying the beautiful Stampsmith stamps - yay! This is based on my favorite board game - Cranium. In one category in this game, you get to act like a famous person and the other players have to guess who you are! Can you guess who this is... LOL!!!

Do you exercise too?

Hi everyone...

I hope you're enjoying a beautiful summer! The summer weather has finally arrived in Nova Scotia and we're having a little heat wave with 100% humidity - gasp! It's making me want to stay inside out of the heat so I've been up in the craft room a bit more lately. Here's one of my latest creations.
Cheers,
Val

Time for Memories...

Don't you just love Stampsmith's Serena stamp? I've used Stampsmith's Rose Background stamp using Versafine Vintage Sepia on cream cardstock. You can find the individual stamps here:
Main image, Serena #2 (The Stampsmith: http://stampsmith.net/singles2.htm)
Rose Background (The Stampsmith: http://stampsmith.net/singles2.htm)
The flower filigree stamp is from Magenta and the Woven Background stamp is from Rubber Soul. I added Dew Drop embellishments and cream and dusty pink flowers from Kaisercraft using Glossy Acents.

Then I decided to make a bookmark to help me remember my reading spot in my favorite novel. I used images from the following Stampsmith plates to create this bookmark:

Main image, Paris post and word stamps from “Paris” Plate (The Stampsmith: http://stampsmith.net/paris.htm)
Background stamps from “Medieval Ornaments #2” Plate (The Stampsmith: http://stampsmith.net/medieval2.htm)
Black flower image, from “The Great Wall of China” Plate (The Stampsmith: http://stampsmith.net/asia.htm)

Have a great weekend everyone!
Creatively yours,
Maria

marlon brando inchie

I made this inchie (1" square) for the inchy by inch challenge. Where the theme is man. I used this image from the stampsmith "kiss me you fool" plate, the lettering is also taken from the same plate

This card is actually diamond shaped. To help it open, the top point is attached together and has a score across the back to help it open well. It looks fine sitting on its side, but it looks better when the bottom point is sitting in a stand :) This beautiful image reminded me of scenes from Pride and Predjudice (2005 with Keira Knightly). Sentiment and flourishes are by Quietfire Designs. It was fun to create a card representing a favorite movie - go ahead, give it a try!

America's Sweetheart

This card uses a Shirley Temple image, which is available as a single. The image is stamped in Memories black on glossy cardstock, coloured with waterbased markers used as paint and accented with die cut hearts from Spellbinders renaissance hearts pendant dies. The word phrases are done using a dymo label maker and vellum.

Further construction details are found at my blog.
